Detained Belgian citizen with terrorism sentence asks for extradition to his country

The Yambol District Court has decided to keep Belgian citizen Yassin Lashiri in custody. The 37-year-old man was detained on November 10th when he crossed the Turkish-Bulgarian border illegally. The detainee with a false identity document is wanted by a European warrant for a 20-year jail sentence for terrorism in Belgium. The detainee asked to be handed over to the Belgian authorities. The court is yet to rule on his extradition.

According to unofficial information, the sentence in Belgium is for participation in the terrorist attacks in Paris back in 2015, BNR correspondent Daniela Kostova informed.
