The young Bulgarian luthier Georgi Nikolov, who lives and works in Cremona, Italy, has won two competitions in Italy in November. A violin he manufactured has won the first prize in the "Professionals" category at the annual competition of the National Association of Italian Luthiers (Associazione Liutai Italiani), and his violas were recently awarded in the first edition of the Marino Capicchioni competition.

His brother, Nikola Nikolov, also brought awards for Bulgaria from the same two competitions. Both are graduates of the National School of Plastic Arts and Design "Academician Dechko Uzunov" in Kazanlak (central Bulgaria) where their father was a teacher until recently.
