President Rumen Radev continues political consultations with parliamentary groups in the 47th National Assembly before handing over the first exploratory mandate for government formation.
On December 7, the first to meet President Radev were representatives of "There is Such a People" party, which is negotiating for participation in a coalition cabinet with the mandate of "We Continue the Change" party.
"Your political force has already proved itself as part of the change happening in Bulgaria! Many Bulgarian voters continue to see in you the hope for a new and frank policy," Radev said at the beginning of the meeting.
"We said a long time ago that we would do our best to have a normal government in the country. The challenges are much bigger than they were 3 months ago," Toshko Yordanov, deputy head of “There is Such a People” said.
We expect the discussions with "We Continue the Change" to end on December 8. There has been a delay because of technological reasons. There are no problems or any differences, the co-chairman of Democratic Bulgaria, Hristo Ivanov, said at the beginning of today’s consultations in the Presidency. There is no agreement unless one is reached on all topics, the other co-chairman Atanas Atanasov added.
"We see our role as guarantors of a certain political direction. This includes the democratic commitment of the future cabinet, progress towards Schengen and the Euro zone, meaningful integration into NATO," Ivanov said.
The political consultations ended with a meeting between President Radev and representatives of the nationalist party “Vazrazhdane” who presented their priorities: "We beleive that the so-called anti-epidemic measures must be abolished," the leader of “Vazradzhdane” Kostadin Kostadinov said.
“When we propose measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic, we must take into consideration the fact that more than 100 people die from Covid-19 on a daily basis”, President Radev said in return.
