Bulgaria’s National Assembly has amended the moratorium imposed on the prices of electricity, central heating and water. The MPs froze the prices of electricity, central heating and water on the regulated market at their level on December 16, 2021, until March 31, 2022.

Yesterday, following a proposal of GERB/SDS, the MPs imposed a moratorium on the price of electricity, water and sewerage services and central heating at the levels of January 1, 2021. However, Bulgaria’s cabinet called this moratorium unclear. MP Rumen Gechev from “BSP for Bulgaria” said in Parliament that a retroactive moratorium holds risks. MP Vladislav Panev from “Democratic Bulgaria” also said that a retroactive moratorium was not a good decision.
