Bulgaria is beginning the year, 2022, without a budget, voted by parliament, which is unprecedented in the country’s most modern history.
According to estimated data, by the end of December 2021, the budget was "in the red" by 4 billion Leva (a little over EUR 2 billion), or 3% of the GDP. The cabinet stated its intention to have the new financial framework ready by the end of February, but a bill has been submitted to parliament, according to which the effect of the budget for 2021 is extended until the end of March.
