Possible sanctions against Russia would affect Bulgaria’s energy sphere

 A possible conflict between NATO and Russia and any subsequent sanctions would mainly affect our energy sphere, Bulgaria’s Premier Kiril Petkov said during an extraordinary sitting of the National Assembly convened in connection with the Ukrainian crisis. 

According to Kiril Petkov, Bulgaria’s authorities have clear plans to protect the population in case of possible sanctions connected with gas supplies. Premier Petkov pointed out that he was working together with Bulgaria’s Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov on these strategies. In Premier Petkov’s words, it is of strategic importance for Bulgaria to ensure that Bulgarian households and businesses have an alternative.
