On 4 February, World Cancer Day, the Bulgarian National Association of Oncology announced, together with 22 other organizations, that they are starting work on a proposal for a national anti-cancer plan.

The aim is to implement Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan in this country, which has been approved by the European Commission. The most frequent symptom is sudden pain which appears in the late stages of cancer. That is why there are screening programmes in the advanced countries for the most frequent kinds of cancer.

Cancer incidence is up by 3% in Bulgaria in 2021 compared to the previous year, and the age of cancer patients has been falling, oncologists say.
