Prof. Angel Dimitrov: The key to the EU is in the hands of politicians in Skopje, not in our country

Any attempt to interrupt the work of the joint Bulgarian-Macedonian Commission on Historical and Educational Issues is a gesture of ill will and a bad attitude towards the Treaty of Friendship and Good Neighbourliness, said to BNR Prof. Angel Dimitrov, co-chair of the commission.

Several days ago, the co-chair on North Macedonia's side, Dragi Georgiev, said the commission should suspend work for two years until a calmer atmosphere is reached in the relations between the two countries. According to Angel Dimitrov, it is not Bulgaria but certain circles in the Republic of North Macedonia that hide the key to the European door.
"It is absurd to equate history in terms of a science and an identity," he said.
