Bulgaria’s skier Albert Popov placed 17th in the Men’s Giant Slalom at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. This has been the best achievement of a Bulgarian skier in this event at winter Olympics. In 1984, Petar Popangelov placed 21st at the Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo.

Popov finished 27th in the first run. However, he placed 7th in the second run and finished 5.59 seconds behind the Olympic champion Marco Odermatt from Switzerland.

On February 16, Albert Popov will compete in the Men’s Slalom. Bulgaria’s skier Kamen Zlatkov will also participate at the Men’s Slalom. In 1984, Petar Popangelov placed 6th in this event.
