Spanish fighter aircraft carry out reconnaissance flights over Sofia, Varna, Burgas and Yambol

On February 13, Spanish fighter jets flew over Bulgaria, carrying out reconnaissance flights over the alternate aerodromes near the cities of Sofia, Varna, Burgas and Yambol, the Ministry of Defense announced.

Four Spanish Airforce Eurofighter EF-2000 Typhoon II aircraft and 130 Spanish military personnel are in Bulgaria for joint mission with the Bulgarian Air Force to guard Bulgaria’s airspace.

 The joint Air Policing mission ensures the security of the NATO countries on NATO’s Eastern Flank and is implemented in accordance with the procedures of the NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defense System.
