On the occasion of 149 years after the death of Bulgarian revolutionary Vasil Levski, a memorial ceremony was held in Karlovo - the hometown of the national hero. Many citizens and guests of the town gathered on the central square to show their admiration for the ideals, courage and self-sacrifice of Vasil Levski. Representative military companies of the 61st Stryama Mechanized Brigade were present in front of the monument to the Apostle of Freedom.

"True liberty and true statehood are possible only as a common Bulgarian cause, according to Levski," Vice President Iliana Yotova, who also attended the ceremony in Karlovo, said.

The Speaker of the National Assembly Nikola Minchev delivered a speech to those present. The ceremony ended with commemorative fireworks.
