Ukrainian refugees’ term of stay in Bulgaria can be extended for humanitarian reasons, Bulgarian Interior Ministry announced. For this purpose they have to submit an application to the Migration Directorate of the Interior Ministry or to the units of the service at the regional directorates in the country before the term of their visa-free stay was over.

Currently, citizens of Ukraine are entitled to visa-free entry and stay for up to 90 days within each six-month period.

Health minister Asena Serbezova had sent a letter to the regional health inspectorates and emergency medical care centers in the country, asking them to provide quality and timely medical care for citizens of Ukraine seeking asylum in Bulgaria.

At a meeting with representatives of the State Agency for Refugees, the Migration Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, the Bulgarian Red Cross, the State Agency for Child Protection and other organizations, Serbezova announced that every citizen of Ukraine who applies for international protection will be entitled to free medical assistance.
