According to Bulgaria’s Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov, a possible stoppage of deliveries by Gazprom to Europe would indirectly impact the price of gas in this country.
“This would mean a drastic rise in electricity prices in Europe, and Bulgaria as a country playing a balancing role for the entire region would take an indirect hit by such a price trend,” Minister Nikolov commented. In his words, because of the war in Ukraine the closure of the coal-fired power plants could be reconsidered. Alexander Nikolov said further that additional energy compensations are expected to be envisaged for businesses helping refugees from Ukraine.
