Russian military convoy is approaching Kyiv, France Presse has announced. The Russian forces have destroyed an airport southeast of Ukraine’s capital city.

Intense fighting is now taking place northwest of Kyiv, BBC reported.

According to an advisor of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, the city is under siege and army and volunteers are preparing to defend it, street by street.

The Ukrainian intelligence service says seven civilians have died after Russian troops fired at an evacuation convoy in the Kyiv region. Russian forces attacking the city of Mariupol shelled a mosque sheltering more than 80 adults and children.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden authorized an additional USD 200 million in defense aid to Ukraine. The aid package will provide defense articles and services, and military education and training.

Nearly 1,300 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since the beginning of the Russian invasion, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
