Bulgaria reports 1,720 new Covid-19 cases, Blagoevgrad declared flu epidemic

1,720 is the number of newly registered Covid-19 cases out of 15,874 tests performed in Bulgaria in the past day, a positivity rate of 10.8%. Almost 70% of the new infections are among the unvaccinated, Single Coronavirus Information Portal data show.

192,721 is the number of active cases in the country. The number of new hospital admissions in the past day is 196, 82.6% of them among the unvaccinated. 2,259patients are being treated in hospital, 276 of them in intensive care.

26 is the number of Covid-related deaths in the past day, 24 of them are not vaccinated.

2,751 is the number of recoveries reported in the past 24 hours.

2,444 doses of vaccine have been administered on Thursday.

On 18 March, Blagoevgrad municipality declared a flu epidemic. The incidence rate is 415 per 10,000 residents. The virus is of the A/Cambodia type and is mostly affecting children aged 5 to 14.
