Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Assen Vassilev stated, in an interview with the BNR, that Bulgaria will not renew its contract with Gazprom for the delivery of natural gas because of the war in Ukraine.
“During the next 1-2 weeks there will be discussions, at a European level, for a common gas contract for the entire European Union. We expect this mechanism to start functioning in the summer,” Minister Vassilev added.
“There are no negotiations currently taking place for the renewal of the contract with Gazprom, talks are being held with Azerbaijan for additional quantities of Azeri gas,” Ivan Topchiyski, chairman of Bulgargaz's board of directors stated, on his part, for Bulgarian public service TV BNT. He added that after 30 June, we can expect to receive Azeri gas at full capacity.
