Despite the gloomy forecasts, high electricity prices and the war in Ukraine, the winter tourist season in Bulgaria is successful, data of the Unified Tourist Information System of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Tourism indicate.

The number of hotel accommodations in December and January saw a two-fold increase to 556,667. However, hotel occupancy was 67% of the occupancy registered during the tourist season before the Covid-19 pandemic.

British and Israeli tourists have returned to Bulgaria. The Bulgarian tourist market remains the most significant for hoteliers, followed by the market in Greece, Romania, Turkey, Britain, Italy, Germany, Russia and North Macedonia. Because of the thick snow cover, the ski runs will be open until April 10 or April 17.
