“The Russian aggression in Ukraine has put security into light more acutely than ever. Together with Poland, we are united in our efforts to reinforce NATO’s Eastern flank,” said President Rumen Radev after holding a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Sofia.

Rumen Radev and Andrzej Duda discussed conditions for the introduction, by the Alliance, of a graduated response depending on the threats. The formation of multinational battlegroups is just one  element of these efforts, President Radev said. “The aviation problem is particularly critical for Bulgaria. Unless we take urgent measures we risk burying the air force and having to beg our neighbours to assume our commitments," Bulgaria’s President added.

Rumen Radev and Andrzej Dudaalso discussed Poland's assistance for the repair of Bulgaria’s MiG-29 fighter aircraft.
