On the occasion of Constitution Day, 16 April, President Rumen Radev addressed legal practitioners and all Bulgarian citizens.
Paying tribute to the participants in the Constituent Assembly in 1879, which laid the foundations of constitutionalism in the Principality of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian head of state laid emphasis on their common will to guarantee the equality of the citizens of Bulgaria and the protection of their rights, whatever their political views.
“Today we celebrate this will with a desire to see that it continue to inspire and guide our actions,” President Radev said and added: “It should not be forgotten that the Constitution is also a reflection of our determination to uphold the universal human values: freedom, peace, humanism, equality, justice and tolerance.”
