The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, whose town is currently under the control of Russian forces, said that if Bulgaria and Hungary did not provide military aid to Ukraine, the war would reach these countries.
"Until two months ago no one believed that Putin could start a full-scale war in a European democratic country. Now these two countries do not believe it is possible for war to begin in their country, but it is," Ivan Fedorov told the European Parliament's foreign affairs committee.
Fedorov was abducted on March 11 after Russian forces seized Melitopol. He was accused of funding the far right group Right Sector and tortured, but was exchanged for Russian prisoners of war five days later.
