Euro hits 5-year low as Russian gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland halted

Photo: archive

The euro hit a 5-year low, compared to the USD, as Russia halted gas deliveries to Poland and Bulgaria, tumbling to USD 1.06, its weakest since 2017.

Investors say that this is due to the poor economic prospects, but Moscow’s decision to halt gas deliveries to two of the EU member countries is fueling apprehensions that the situation may worsen.
