Number of Bulgarians travelling abroad increases

In March 2022, the number of Bulgarians travelling abroad increased with 114.1% (538.300) as compared to March 2021, data of the National Statistical Institute show. Meanwhile, the number of foreign nationals visiting Bulgaria went up by 118.1% (627,000) as compared to the same period last year.

34.8% (218,300) of the foreign nationals who visited Bulgaria in March were citizens of EU countries. 37.9% of them were nationals of Romania and 30.1% were Greek citizens. Almost 338,000 people from "Other European countries" visited Bulgaria in March this year. 36.4% of them were Turkish nationals and 33.4% were Ukrainian citizens.
