“The people making the decision to send military aid to Ukraine should, first, think of the security of the Bulgarian citizens,” President Rumen Radev said in Plovdiv.
According to Radev, the current militaristic sentiments do not take account of the fact that “we share a real common border of war, we have a huge historical diaspora” in Ukraine. The Bulgarian head of state said further that “ignorant people” do not take into account the air defence from Durankulak to Sofia, and what the state of Bulgaria’s air force is. “How long will our allies be here?” the President asked.
President Radev also said there had been an accident involving a car from his escort near Plovdiv. The doctor from the presidential team has been hurt, and has been taken to hospital in the presidential car. A member of the security detail has suffered minor injuries.
