The net monthly income needed to support a working person in a one-person household in Bulgaria reached BGN 1,216 (621 euro) in March. This is BGN 157 (80 euro) more than in March 2021, according to the data of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (KNSB) and the Institute for Social and Trade Union Studies.

The figure is based on a basic consumer basket - the cost of life for a working person living alone - food, housing, education, healthcare, clothing, transport and communications, entertainment and recreation.

A two-working family with one child up to the age of 14 needs 2189 BGN (1119 euro) or 283 BGN (145 euro) more than last March. The KNSB is demanding a 15% wage increase.
