Bulgaria’s Minister of Labor and Social Policy Georgi Gyokov proposes raising pensions as of July 1. The increase will follow the so-called “Swiss rule”. According to Minister Gyokov, all pensioners should also receive a monthly supplement to the tune of at least EUR 30.

“The best option is to update pensions on July 1 with a percentage that offsets inflation, for instance 10%, and give pensioners a monthly supplement of EUR 30 or slightly more that would replace the Covid-19 supplement”, Minister Gyokov further said. According to data of the National Statistical Institute, the annual inflation rate accelerated to 12.4% in March 2022.
