Bulgaria and Nigeria set to intensify trade and economic ties

“Nigeria is a traditional trade and economic partner for Bulgaria in Africa to the South of the Sahara. There exist diverse opportunities and good prospects for cooperation in various spheres,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Teodora Genchovska during the official visit to this country by her Nigerian counterpart Geoffrey Onyeama.

Minister Genchovska pointed out that at the moment, Nigerian companies are employing and taking advantage of the skills of Bulgarian computer specialists, fitters and geologist. The foreign ministers of Bulgaria and Nigeria discussed ways to deepen relations in the sphere of education.

Later, at a meeting with Foreign Minister Onyeama, President Rumen Radev emphasized on the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries to overcome the consequences of the war in Ukraine, related to the suspension of Russian energy supplies to Bulgaria. The Head of State welcomed Nigeria's readiness to support Bulgaria in achieving diversification of natural gas and oil supplies.
