“As of 1 July, Bulgaria is going to receive Azeri gas,” Prime Minister Kiril Petkov announced during question time in parliament. He added that the gas will not be delivered via Greece. “We shall be able to receive the full amounts of Azeri gas before the interconnection is completed,” PM added.

Deputy Prime Minister and Ministrer of Finance Assen Vassilev expressed the conviction that Bulgaria will be one of the exemptions from the EU embargo on Russian oil. Talking to reporters in parliament, Assen Vassilev stated he had been assured of this by the European Commission. According to Assen Vassilev, even if the worst case scenario comes to pass, and the Bosphorus is closed to navigation while at the same time Russia halts oil deliveries, Bulgaria can still hold out for another 6 months, during which it can find a solution to the supply problem.
Businesses should not expect a rise in the price of electricity compared to prices last autumn, Assen Vassilev said, and added that efforts were underway to find ways to preserve the price level of electric energy for non-household consumers.
