EU to discuss oil embargo on Russia again

In Berlin, NATO’s Foreign Ministers pledged that the North-Atlantic alliance would continue to provide Ukraine with weapons until Russian aggression is repelled. On May 16, the EU Foreign Ministers are expected to discuss in Brussels the 6th sanction package against Russia which seeks to stop crude oil imports. A number of EU member states have already contested the 6th round of sanctions.

The European Union is set to offer its gas importers a solution to avoid a breach of sanctions when buying fuel from Russia and still effectively satisfy President Vladimir Putin’s demand over payment in rubles, Bloomberg reported.

The United States has already diverted significant volumes of its liquefied natural gas to Europe and is committed to continuing these deliveries until the end of the year, the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in Berlin.

"The two American tankers carrying liquefied natural gas will arrive on June 8 and 23. The only reason why we are not telling the name of the gas supplier is because the price we were given is well below the EU market price”, Premier Kiril Petkov said and promised that the price of U.S. natural gas would be equivalent to Gazprom's.
