Bulgaria's household income per capita rises 9.6%

The average annual household income per capita in Bulgaria increased by 9.6% to 1025.65 euros, compared to the same quarter of 2021, National Statistical Institute (NSI) data show.


The average annual household expenditure per capita in the first quarter of 2022 was 931 euros. It has increased by 13.3%, compared to the same quarter of 2021.

Wages and salaries accounted for 56.9% of total household income, followed by pensions and self-employment income with 30.9% and 4.9%, respectively.


Expenditures for food and non-alcoholic beverages accounted for 29.5% of the total, followed by housing (18.8%), taxes and social security (13.6%) and transport and communications (12.1%).
