Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov has not committed to deadlines for lifting the Bulgarian veto for the start of EU accession talks of the Republic of North Macedonia. He said this after his meeting last night in Rome with North Macedonia's Prime Minister Dimitar Kovačevski

Petkov said he would hold talks with President Rumen Radev and make every effort to convene a National Security Advisory Council to present a report on the progress in bilateral relations over the past six months. "The most important thing for the two governments at the moment is to have a constructive dialogue," Petkov said.

The meeting between the two prime ministers was also attended by the foreign ministers of Bulgaria and North Macedonia - Teodora Genchovska and Bujar Osmani.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Dimitar Kovačevski, described the meeting as "extremely constructive", BNR reported. According to him, it was agreed that talks at the level of foreign ministries wouldcontinue in order to achieve a document that would be acceptable to both Sofia and Skopje, and would lay the groundwork for resolving the existing issues, BGNES reported.
