Schools are in no danger of closing because of high electricity and heating bills. There may be some budget updates ahead to support schools at the start of the new academic year and into the next heating season, Education Minister Acad. Nikolay Denkov told bTV.

Minister Denkov also commented on the importance of the earlier start of the school year. Our children, especially up to 6th grade, attend school months shorter than their peers abroad, Denkov said, specifying that the difference in duration is 25%.

"This needs to be balanced. Therefore, along with curriculum changes, we should think of ways to extend the school year," the minister urged.
