F-35 fighter jets of the United States Air Force have landed at Graf Ignatievo Air Base in Bulgaria. They will continue NATO's air policing mission in the country, NATO Allied Air Command informed on Twitter. The number of aircraft has not been specified.

“USAF F-35s, deployed to Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany, flew a long-range mission to Bulgaria in support of NATO vigilance activities on the Eastern flank,” the Allied Air Command announced.

Speaking to the Bulgarian National Radio on May 31, Bulgarian Minister of Defense Dragomir Zakov said that there were a number of initiatives for cross-border Air Policing and that Bulgaria will continue to be supported by NATO.
