BICA Chairman Vasil Velev: Gazprom's suspension of gas supplies to Bulgaria is a "legend"

The chairman of the Industrial Capital Association in Bulgaria (BICA) Vassil Velev defined as a "legend" the claim that Gazprom has stopped gas supplies to our country. "The contract has not been terminated - there is a 'take and pay' clause in it, i.e. in December we may find ourselves having to pay hundreds of millions without having consumed this gas," he told BNR. 

According to the businessman, Bulgaria continues to use Russian gas, but through intermediaries, "instead of directly and at a better price". 

Vassil Velev criticised the budget update and the reform plan, which, in his words, is being reframed into anti-crisis measures. He thinks that the main measure for business should be the compensation of high electricity prices due to the spiking inflation.
