BG deputies discuss the budget update

Bulgarian MPs debate at first reading an update of the budgets of the National Health Insurance Fund and the state social insurance and the state budget. The update was rejected by the Budget and Finance Parliamentary Committee.

The amendment to the budget provides for an update of pensions from 1 July, by which the minimum monthly allowance will be 238 euro and the maximum - 1022 euro, with a further revision expected on 1 October. New VAT rates are expected for bread - 0% and for energy - 9 instead of 20%.

During the debate, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Assen Vassilev assured the MPs that the increase in pensions would not cause a financial sustainability problem.
