The French ambassador to Bulgaria, Florence Robine held an unofficial meeting with MPs from the Friendship group Bulgaria-France in Bulgarian parliament. The French proposal for a solution to the veto Bulgaria imposed on the launch of EU accession negotiations with North Macedonia is expected to be officially sent to the Bulgarian government. It will also be sent to all EU member countries.

The proposal envisages the lifting of the veto, with the EU acting as guarantor that Skopje will meet the conditions set down by Bulgaria. The government has already decided that all proposals regarding North Macedonia shall be sent to parliament for approval.

Prime Minister Kiril Petkov is to submit the French proposal for approval by parliament on 17 June, BGNES reports.
