As the National Assembly started its work today, tensions immediately started running high. Ugly scenes followed a declaration read out by the leader of the nationalist Vazrazdahe party Kostadin Kostadinov, who called the supporters of the government, protesting in front of parliament building “sorosoids”, who want to organize a “Maidan”.

In response, the Bulgarian Socialist Party stated that people saw the nationalist Vazrazdahe voting together with the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, MRF. After that the MPs from the opposition MRF and the lead party from the ruling coalition We Continue the Change exchanged words and started pushing and shoving each other, but other members of parliament broke it up.

Meanwhile, one more MP from There Is Such a People party (ITN) which broke away from the ruling coalition, Kiril Simeonov announced he was leaving ITN and would be an independent MP.
