As of the new 2022/2023 school year, all Bulgarian schools and educational institutions will be required to keep electronic diaries only. Until now, school principals could choose between electronic and paper diaries, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Education said.

The national electronic information system is ready and the educational institutions have been provided with all conditions to introduce the electronic diary. The service is free of charge and saves money.

As of the 2022/2023 school year, with the introduction of electronic student records, individual paper records will no longer be kept. However, the paper record book and ID card will remain after September. By decision of the school authorities, the student record book may also be electronic.
