Two men have been arrested after police uncovered a cannabis farm near the port city of Burgas.

More than 400 pots for growing cannabis were found in a house in the resort of Elenite, and 23 kg of dried cannabis leaf ready for sale were found in a car. Law enforcement officers also found an impressive weapons arsenal, said Kaloyan Kaloyanov, director of the regional directorate of the Interior Ministry.

He declined to comment on whether the drugs were intended for sale in Turkey, but pointed out that in recent years they have become significantly more expensive in Bulgaria's southern neighbour.

The raid also seized handguns, Kalashnikov submachine guns, a grenade launcher, a live grenade, improvised explosive devices, silencers and 700 rounds of ammunition. According to weapons experts, the explosive devices and silencers were of high professional quality.
