Bulgaria commemorates poet Nikola Vaptsarov

A commemorative ceremony is to be held at 10 AM today to mark 80 years since the death of foremost Bulgarian poet Nikola Vaptsarov. The ceremony, to take place at the Sofia garrison firing range, will be attended by President Rumen Radev.

Nikola Vaptsarov is the only Bulgarian, holder of the International Peace Award, conferred on him posthumously in 1952. UNESCO declared 2009 a year of Nikola Vaptsarov in honour of his centennial birth anniversary.
