Bulgaria is increasing the funding for scholarships under the Fulbright Bulgarian-American Commission for Educational Exchange.
As of 2023 the government will take part with an allocation of USD 1.1 million instead of the current USD 364,000. This means that more Bulgarian citizens will be offered grants for doctoral and master’s degrees at US universities. It will also be possible to increase the size of the scholarships – from USD 37,000 to USD 100,000 per student for the academic 2023-2024. But there is also a change in one of the conditions for scholarship holders – they will be obligated to return to Bulgaria for no less than 3 years after the end of the programme, instead of 2 years as is the case now.
