The war in Ukraine and gas prices set dividing lines in Bulgarian society

"The war in Ukraine and gas prices strongly affect public attitudes. There is a strong polarization and radicalization of opinions", sociologist Genoveva Petrova from Alpha Research said for the BNR, referring to the polls of the sociological agency conducted in recent months.

 In her words, the ratio between the number of people with pro-European orientation and those supporting the Kremlin policy is almost equal. Left-wing voters, as well a radical voters and supporters of patriotic formations take a pro-Kremlin stance. Centre-leaning and right-leaning electorates express the position that that Bulgaria should in no way retreat from the pro-Euro-Atlantic orientation, even at the cost of some adverse consequences.
