The Ukrainian state nuclear energy company "Energoatom" has warned of a high risk of radiation leakage from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant due to Russian artillery shelling. Russia sent a letter to the UN Security Council with evidence of the shelling of the NPP on August 25 by Ukrainian forces, the permanent representation of the Russian Federation at the UN announced on Facebook. "Three shells exploded not far from special building No. 2, where the storage for nuclear fuel and solid radioactive waste is located," they note from there.

The IAEA has announced that the composition of the mission that will visit the Zaporizhzhia NPP is now known. It will include the head of the agency Mariano Grossi and 13 other experts.

The Ukrainian army has stopped the advance of Russian forces towards Slavyansk, Bakhmut and Avdeevka, but the threat of Russia's use of Kalibr cruise missiles against infrastructure sites remains, UNIAN reports, citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The US has said it continues to support Ukraine. They will emphasize the delivery of weapons to Ukraine by sea instead of air, which will allow a greater amount of weapons to be delivered to the Ukrainian army, writes The Washington Post.

The authorities in Ukraine envisage voluntary mobilization of women from October 1, UNIAN points out. In July, the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine announced that women from seven main professions and 14 specialties, including chemical technology, telecommunications, software engineering, medicine, biotechnology, psychology, would be subject to mobilization.

Putin has signed a decree temporarily allowing citizens of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics and Ukraine to reside and work on the territory of Russia for an unlimited time. For this purpose, they must undergo dactyloscopic registration, take a photo and pass a medical examination, which will show that they are not drug addicts and are not carriers of infectious diseases and HIV that are dangerous for others.
