Record rise in cost prices in July

The total producer price index in industry has gone up in July by a record 42.5% compared to the same month of last year, and by 3.8% compared to June, National Statistical Institute data show.

The prices of producing and generating gas, electricity and thermal energy in July, compared to 2021, have gone up by 103%, after an 83% increase in June – within the space of one month they have gone up by 19.3%. Based on the steep rise in cost prices in July, consumer inflation is expected to continue to grow in the coming months. Earlier this month, the National Statistical Institute registered an acceleration of consumer inflation in July to 17.3% - the highest inflation rate since May 1998.
