Access to all of the villages inundated by the heavy rainfall and by the broken Stryama River dyke is now restored, power has also been restored, but there is no drinking water, Chief Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, Director of the Fire Safety and Civil Protection Chief Directorate said for public service TV BNT.

In his words, there are six locations which have been hit hardest – eliminating the damage inflicted there will take one-two months, but the infrastructure will be restored by this time next year. Heavy building machinery will join the efforts to clean up the villages affected in the region of Karlovo.

Analysis of the damage in the villages affected most – Karavelovo and Bogdan – has already begun. The government will provide temporary accommodation to the people who lost their homes, Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said in an interview with Nova TV. The Agency for Social Assistance will allocate half a minimum monthly salary (EUR 184) to the people affected by the flooding.
