On the eighth day of the floods in the Karlovo region's villages of Bogdan, Karavelovo and Slatina, a large number of volunteers are expected to take part in efforts to clean up the tons of mud and trees brought by the water disaster.
Earlier in the week, many people came to help on Unification Day (September 6). The main problem for the flood-affected villages continues to be the lack of drinking water, which is why temporary water supply lines are being laid.
Gendarmerie personnel have been patrolling with the police since last night, protecting flood-affected houses from looters.
Police officers will today instruct volunteers where to park their vehicles so as not to obstruct the heavy equipment helping with the clean-up.
