Ukrainian authorities found a mass grave of more than 400 bodies in the northeastern city of Izyum in Kharikiv region that was recaptured from Russian forces. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky likened the discovery to what happened in Bucha, on the outskirts of Kyiv. “Russia is leaving death behind it and must be held responsible”, Volodymyr Zelensky said in his nightly address. Police officers are also aware of a number of other burial sites elsewhere in the Kharkiv region.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv. The EU will provide EUR 100 million to rebuild Ukrainian schools destroyed during the war, Ursula von der Leyen announced.

The Biden administration announced it will send another USD 600 million in military aid to Ukraine.

Pope Francis said it was morally legitimate for nations to supply weapons to Ukraine to help the country defend itself from Russian aggression, Reuters reported. Pope Francis answered reporters’ questions during a conference aboard the papal plane on his flight back to Rome after visiting Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.” Self-defense is not only licit but also an expression of love for the homeland”, Pope Francis said.
