Bulgarian government creates coordination council on sanctions against Russia

The caretaker government has made steps to create a special coordination council on sanctions against Russia and other countries, after a proposal by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikolay Milkov and Minister of Justice Krum Zarkov.

The Council will be responsible for implementing all restrictive measures imposed by the EU and will help Bulgarian companies and citizens find out who they can do business with in sanctioned countries. After an inquiry, answers will be given within 14 days.The EU has imposed 44 sanction regimes that Bulgaria applies.

The coordinator of the council will be the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its members will include representatives of the Bulgarian National Bank, the Commission for Financial Supervision and the counterintelligence services.
