The Bear Sanctuary in Belitsa has a new resident. Six-year-old bear Iva is now under the care of the Four Paws Foundation, working in in the park, which is managed jointly with the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, BNT has reported.

Iva the bear was brought to the park from Skopje on September 20, as there is no suitable shelter for bears in North Macedonia. As a very young animal, the bear was found abandoned. A private owner from Skopje raised her in the yard of his estate. In the first year there, she lived together with the bear Teddy, who was later sheltered in Belitsa in 2020.

Iva and Teddy will meet again but not until the spring of 2023, because they are now preparing for hibernation, the park authorities said.
