The President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and the Prime Minister of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis agreed that the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector, whose commercial operation started on Saturday, not only provides real energy diversification to Bulgaria, but will make a significant contribution to strengthening the stability and economic development of Southeastern Europe, according tothe press service of the Bulgarian President.
The two held a working meeting in Sofia today, before the ceremony for the official launch of the gas interconnector between the two countries. President Radev and Prime Minister Mitsotakis stressed that the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and Greece sets an example to the region. Rumen Radev and Kyriakos Mitsotakis also discussed the prospects of expanding the supply chains, as well as ways to prevent energy shortages in the region.
Other items on the agenda of the meeting included speeding up work on the construction of the LNG terminal at Alexandroupolis and Bulgaria’s decision to increase its reserved capacity to 1 billion cubic metres of gas annually, as well as Bulgharia’s interest in participating in the privatization and administration of Greek ports, the presidential press service statement says.
