Experts: Too many renewable energy sources would endanger Bulgaria's energy balance

Bulgaria may have electricity supply problems if too many renewable energy sources are installed without balancing the energy system, experts warned at a green energy conference.

There are currently bids for the installation of renewable energy sources totaling 28 thousand MW, which is four times more than the national electricity production, said the executive director of the Electricity System Operator Angelin Tsachev.

According to him, the excessive development of renewable sources without simultaneous development of base load emission-free capacities and without storage systems for the energy they provide could create risks for the energy balance of the country, informs BNR reporter Yuliana Kornaeva.
